Lydia Burkholder's grandchildren

In 1943 were spread out from first grade through sophomores

From Oct. 1, 1942, Bluffton News – With at least one grandchild in every grade in the public schools up to grade 10, Mrs. Lydia Burkholder, 76, residing on the old homestead where the parents of these children were born, can make claim to something of a district record.

We doubt if anyone could match this record. It's from the Oct. 1, 1943, Bluffton News:

The old home place, located just west of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church, is being farmed by a son, Albert Burkholder. Mrs. Burkholder’s husband, David Burkholder, passed away about 14 years ago.

All members of the family including sons, daughters and grandchildren are members of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church or Sunday school.

The children, their parents, and the grade in which they are enrolled are as follows:

Grade 1 – Vonda Burkholder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Burkholder.

Grade 2 – David Burkholder, son of Mrs. Hiram Burkholder.

Grade 3 – Janet Althaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Althaus.

Grade 4 – Geneva Burkholder, daughter of Mrs. Edith Burkholder.

Grade 5 – George Grismore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Grismore.

Grade 6 – Treva Althaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Althaus; Lois Marquart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Marquart.

Grade 7 – Jean Burkholder, daughter of Mr. Hiram. Burkholder.

Grade 8 – Bonnie Grismore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Grismore; Joan Burkholder, daughter of Mrs. Hiram Burkholder.
