In 1936 you could buy one on Main Street from C.F. Niswander
Prior to the Citizens National Bank expansion, at 116 S. Main St., Bluffton, stood the C.F. Niswander Implement dealership. In addition to implement sales, the business sold Maytag washing machines.
And, for much of the 20th century, the wringer washing machine was the appliance of choice for washing laundry at home.
Units included a tub with an electric motor and agitator that removed dirt from items being washed.
It also included a roller unit on top of the machine to wring the excess wash or rinse water from the clothing.
And, the following is the copy of the advertisement featured in a 1937 Bluffton News.
