45s and long-play records on Main Street

74 Christmases ago a Bluffton Main Street

business sold both sizes of records

If you’ve ever shopped in Prosser and Prosser, 119 N. Main St., Bluffton, you would know that the store offers both 45 rpm and 33 1/3 (long play) record albums. That is if you are shopping for Christmas in downtown Bluffton in 1949.

The shop’s Christmas ad from the Dec. 15, 1949, Bluffton News announces RCA Victor Records available.

Concerning your decision to purchase 45s or 33s, the ad states: We have them both! A big choice of RCA Victor conventional records and the exciting non-breakable 45 rpm records that play easier … sound better …cost less … and mail as easy as a pocket handkerchief.

If you need to call the store, when the operator asks, “Number, please,” tell her 195-W.

Prosser and Prosser was located in what is today Diller’s Flooring and Interiors.

BELOW THE AD IS A LIST OF RECORDS AND PRICES AVAILABLE
