Main Street project uncovers portions
put in place nearly 100 years ago
Bluffton’s Main Street grinding project offers a time machine glimpse going back nearly 100 years.
The grinding has removed several layers of pavement and in spots reveals a brick Main Street that dates to 1927.
This rare opportunity permitted our staff photographer to experiment with several of the now-revealed bricks quietly holding together our Main Street foundation.
Some of the photographic experiences follow. These photos were taken on the Citizens National Bank side of South Main between the bank and the post office.
