Our models: one nuthatch and one
woodpecker showing off in the winter
Two birds, same menu. On this winter day of temperatures near zero, several backyard birds stopped by the Steiner homemade suet feeder for snacks.
First, we now know why it’s called a nuthatch. Second, we know it’s called a woodpecker, but now we know it’s on the same diet its blue and white friend.
We couldn’t chose our favorite photo, so we posted all 11 of them.
Oh, yeah, there were starlings and sparrows, but we spread seeds on the ground to keep them off the suet. It worked on and off.
